Breeding conditions:
|
| Spring was very cold, and number of nests initiated by the Snow Goose in a breeding colony was very low (~4,400 as opposed to ~30,000 in good year). About 50% of nests hatched. Lemming numbers were low, and moderate nest predation by fox and wolverine observed. Rather good weather after hatching; the few remaining goslings grew well - but overall production again very low as in 1994. |

Summary
of fauna studies: |
| The Snow Goose breeding colony was monitored by V.V.Baranyuk before we arrived. This is part of a long-termed study by Russian, U.S. and Canadian researchers. |
